They wanted directions.

We did not.

They wanting, wanted

to get to the someplace

that they had planned

all those generations to go.

We not wanting, wanted not

to get there, but to the somewhere

we could only go if allowed to turn

back or from or to or out

all wrong.

Trouble always came

when they tried to tell us

how they wanted to go

where they did not go.

As trouble comes

when we try to tell you

where we do not want to go

and how we must now

end

by going.
